Our last meeting of 2013 was a great one! Lots of topics covered. We had an update on the Quilt Show proceeds donations from Debby. They went to Miamisburg Food Pantry, Miamisburg Community Connection & the Youth Center!
As Connie mentioned at the meeting, we have a need for a volunteer(s) to collect some donations for the Door Prizes for our quilt show next year. Doesn’t have to be just one person, maybe a couple of friends or three to work as a team, (makes it less intimidating asking for freebies!) Our thought process is to have a variety of gifts that could come from just about anywhere that you think might make a good little door prize! Connie will even be the 1st one to donate some of her favorite hair products from her shop, “bates hair co.”! Now, see how easy that is?! You may even run across a good deal from Big Lots or someplace that would work lovely for a door prize! Please feel free to call Connie if you have any questions or want to brainstorm ideas for the door prizes! Thanks for helping.
We also had the presentation of donation quilts to the neo-natal unit of Southview Hospital. Maggie Bauer coordinated the distribution of fabric and the delivery of the completed quilts. We received a large group of fabrics for these quilts from one individual and also many other members of the group donated their time, skill and fabrics to present Southview with 36 quilts for their babies. We have some very generous and skilled quilters in our group. Then we had the presentation of the completed Dresden Plate Block Exchange quilts. Thank you Marie and Dorothy for coordinating this years block exchange. There are still others we will see next year as they are completed. And finally our program presentation for November was information on the Quilts of Valor Foundation. We had a very nice informative presentation. Their website is http://www.qovf.org
