Miamisburg Quilt Show

The time is approaching quickly – – - This year’s Miamisburg Quilt Show will be Friday, April 27th and Saturday, April 28th. The hours will be Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission $5.00 (only at door)

Children 12 and under Free

Handicap Accessible

It once again will be held at the First Church of God at 446 North Heincke Road in Miamisburg. We will have new and heirloom quilts on display. Raffle tickets are available for 2 quilts. Buy one ticket and have a chance to win one of two different quilts. Pictures will be posted of the two different Raffle Quilts soon. We also will have door prizes, vendors from local quilt shops, quilting demos, craft items for sale and scissor and knife sharpening. And of course the wonderful lunch available from the church members. Check with any club member to purchase your raffle tickets or leave a comment here on our blog and we can help you.

The Material Girls Exchange Block quilts will also be on display. This year we will be showing various Log Cabin quilts which the members created with the swap blocks.

The church is a great venue with plenty of space for viewing quilts, shopping our various quilt shop vendors, or resting at the lunch area.

This year we have added something new - Quilt Appraisals – you can make an appointment to have your quilt appraised. For pricing and details please call Kay at 937-672-7745

Yes – yet another web geek wishing you a Happy New Year. But I do hope you enjoyed your holidays and hope you all have an Excellent and Happy New Year. Material Girls will have their first meeting of 2012 this Thursday. The meeting program topic will be Hints and Tips. Please bring a hint or sewing tip to share with your friends. Or maybe just a good tip for our every day activities!!

At the meeting we will share with you the 2012 Program topics and they will also be posted on here on our blog.

The February meeting will be demonstration of the Babylock Sewing Bucket Project and you can find the instructions here

I just received a request to post on a new source for our addiction. It is from a shop in Richmond and just might be a nice place to stop on the way to or from The Stitching Nook!! Here is the post::::

Girls, i have a little ladies upscale consignment shop, but I also carry about 20 to 30 bolts of fabric (5.99 to 9.99) and sell it dor $2.00 a yard. The latest quilt books at 60& off and rotary cutters, sissors and, flat quarters for .50 ea, We are open Wed through Sat from 11 til 4. Located at the corner of 10th and main in Richmond, Indiana. I have a list of ladies I call every year when the fabrics come in. Come in and take a look. You will be pleased. Birdie or Betty will be happy to help you.

November Meeting

We had another great group of quilters and friends together tonight. So many pics of Show and Tell and other activities that the photographer’s batteries were exhausted!! Shirley of course to the rescue with batteries. Is there anything she does not come prepared for?? These first pics are of our random Door Prize winners. Wear a name tag that you made and win a prize! I may have missed one or two prize winners, but people were moving fast tonight. Besides the photographer was sneaking some snacks every now and then.

Next we have our annual Christmas Decoration Exchange. Here are the ladies that exchanged ornaments this year.

Since this is our last meeting for this year we wish all a Happy Holiday Season and we will see you in the Happy New Year!!

International Quilt Festival – Houston

I just had to post to let you all know that a local quilter has won one of the top 10 awards at IQA at Houston. Maria Elkins of Beavercreek won the Fairfield Master Award for Contemporary Artistry with her quilt “Windblown”. Her work has been shown locally at the last Miami Valley Quilt Guild Show held in Xenia at the Greene County Fairgrounds. Congratulations Maria!
